Investing in stronger tomorrows.

The families and fate of South Carolina rely on child care. Two-thirds of children live in homes where all caregivers work. Nearly half of state residents live in child care deserts with no providers or scarce options. A continued failure to address this crucial need affects more than families. We all lose.

ABC Quality was created in 1992 to help address the state’s ever-growing gaps in child care quality, access and affordability. Since then, we’ve worked with providers to strengthen and grow programs. We’ve collaborated with partners to build a statewide ecosystem of resources that benefit children and families. We’re moving in the right direction with miles to go.

There are almost 40,000 children under age six in working households that need child care spaces that do not exist.
